# Which States BNW Services Is Licensed In (and What We Don't Sell)
An insurance license isn't one-size-fits-all. An agency can only sell, quote, and service insurance in the states where it holds a license, and only for the lines of coverage that license authorizes. So before you spend time getting a quote, it's fair to ask: *Can this agency actually write my policy where I live, for what I need?* This page answers that plainly for BNW Services LLC (doing business as InsureToday24).
Our Home State and Our Footprint
BNW Services is a licensed independent insurance agency based in the Kansas City area. Our roots — and most of our business — are in Missouri and Kansas, overseen by the Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance and the Kansas Insurance Department. We're an *independent* agency, which means we aren't owned by a single carrier; we shop the carriers we're appointed with to fit your situation.
Beyond our two home states, we serve households and businesses across a broader regional footprint that includes Nebraska, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Colorado. Each of those states has its own regulator — for example, the Nebraska Department of Insurance and the Colorado Division of Insurance — and we hold the licenses required to do business there. Licensing across state lines is normal for independent agencies and is handled through *resident* and *nonresident* producer licenses, coordinated nationally through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
Resident vs. Nonresident Licenses
Every agent holds a *resident* license in their home state and *nonresident* licenses in the additional states where they write business. The rules are consistent by design: you pass a licensing exam, clear a background check, and keep the license current through continuing education. When we quote a policy for you, we do it under a license valid in *your* state — never a workaround. You can always confirm this yourself; we walk you through how on Is BNW Services Licensed? How to Verify Your Agent.
The Lines We Write
Being licensed in a state is only half the picture. A license also specifies *lines of authority* — the categories of insurance an agency may sell. BNW focuses on the lines that matter most to everyday households, farms, and small businesses in our region:
- Property — homeowners, renters, landlord/dwelling, mobile and manufactured homes
- Casualty and auto — personal auto, commercial auto, general liability
- Life — term, whole, final expense, indexed universal life, and annuities
- Farm and crop — coverage built for the agricultural operations common across our states
- Commercial — business owners policies, workers' compensation, and related coverages
- Trucking — motor-carrier and commercial trucking coverage
- Umbrella — extra personal and commercial liability that sits above your other policies
Because we're independent, the same agency can quote your auto, your home, your business, and your life coverage — and shop each across multiple carriers.
One Line We Do *Not* Sell: Health Insurance
We want to be straight with you: BNW Services does not write health insurance. That's not an oversight — it's a focus. Health coverage is its own specialized world (major medical, ACA marketplace plans, Medicare), and we'd rather do the lines above extremely well than dabble in a line we don't specialize in. If you need health coverage, we'll tell you honestly that it's not what we do and point you toward the right resource, such as your state's marketplace or a licensed health specialist. We never present health as a BNW product.
Why This Matters to You
Buying from an agency licensed in your state, for the line you actually need, is a real consumer protection. It means the policy is enforceable, the agency is accountable to your state regulator, and the coverage sits behind your state's guaranty-fund safety net for admitted carriers. It also means that if something goes wrong, you have a real place to turn.
